K-9 Catholic School Coming to Rivers Edge
The Alberta Government has provided full construction funding for a new Catholic K-9 school in Rivers Edge. This school has also qualified for the School Construction Accelerator Program, which allows for fast-tracking new school construction. More information will be shared as construction contractors have been selected.

Visit Big Island Provincial Park!
The Government of Alberta, the City of Edmonton, and Enoch Cree Nation have partnered to create Big Island Provincial Park. Established in 2023, the 79 hectare park is located in Southwest Edmonton on the North Saskatchewan River. Just minutes away from Rivers Edge, planning for land access is underway and the park can be accessed via the river in the meantime.

Maskekosihk Trail opened in 2022 and provides improved access to the community for residents. The road connects Rivers Edge directly to Anthony Henday Drive giving residents comfortable connectivity to all the City has to offer. This 2-kilometre stretch of arterial road is the first major roadway in the City of Edmonton to be given a name in honour of the Cree First Nations. Maskêkosihk is pronounced as Muss-Kay-Go-Sik.
